UBUNTU GALA
Good evening, everyone.
My name is Dr. Susan Edionwe, and I have the honor of serving as the President of the Nigerian Physicians Advocacy Group (NPAG). I want to welcome you all to the 2025 ANPA Florida 10th Anniversary Celebration and the NPAG Ubuntu Gala.
I’d also like to begin by acknowledging the ANPA Florida leadership, the NPAG executive team, and all our sponsors and partners who made tonight possible. We are grateful for your dedication and your support.
Before we go any further, I’d like to take a moment to share why we call this the Ubuntu Gala.
Ubuntu is an ancient African philosophy rooted in interconnectedness, community, and shared humanity. It is often summarized as:
“I am because we are.”
It reminds us that our identity, our success, and even our humanity are shaped by our relationships with others — and that our well-being is tied to the well-being of our community.
In the spirit of Ubuntu, we come together tonight.
Tonight, we gather for three important goals:
1. To raise funds for our Clean Water Initiative.
Since our founding in 2019, Clean Water has been one of NPAG’s most cherished initiatives. NPAG is involved in political advocacy at every level, including grassroots work. Clean Water was our first grassroots campaign, designed around the idea of “stomach infrastructure” — meeting urgent, practical needs in order to engage communities in deeper conversations about self-advocacy, leadership, and development. This work continues, and tonight’s fundraiser allows it to grow.
2. To celebrate ANPA Florida on its 10-year anniversary.
As the 501(c)(4) affiliate of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas, NPAG is proud to stand with the ANPA Florida family. NPAG is truly an extension of ANPA, and we are honored to celebrate this milestone with you.
3. To encourage each of you to become involved.
From Clean Water to our to our recent Day on the Hill — our lobby day in Washington, D.C. NPAG is deeply engaged in critical issues: Nigeria’s designation as a country of particular concern, temporary protected status for Nigerians, visa exceptions for Nigerian-trained physicians, and many others. Your voices — in your districts and in Congress — are essential to our impact.
And if you are not yet involved with NPAG, we invite you to join us — your expertise, your voice, and your presence matter.
But now, to the heart of why we are here:
I would like to show a short video so that you can see the real impact of our Clean Water Initiative in one of the communities we have served.
Please enjoy this five-minute video.
Conclusion
Tonight, we encourage you not only to celebrate with ANPA Florida on an amazing 10 years, but also to remember the spirit of Ubuntu — and to remember what your donations and your presence here truly mean.
From the silent auction up front to the live auction coming up shortly, what you give tonight will impact communities more than words can convey.
So thank you, and we hope you have a wonderful evening.
Together, we rise. Together, we build. Together — we are Ubuntu.

Together for Change: NPAG Fundraising & ANPA Florida’s 10th Anniversary.
The Ubuntu Gala is more than a celebration; it’s a night of purpose and impact. Co-hosted by the Nigerian Physicians Advocacy Group (NPAG) and the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA), Florida Chapter. This special event brings two missions together: celebrating a decade of service and raising support for projects that change lives.
As NPAG expands its Clean Water Campaign, providing safe and sustainable water access to underserved communities across Nigeria, ANPA Florida commemorates ten years of advancing healthcare, education, and service across the United States and beyond. Together, they represent a shared legacy of leadership and impact, driven by the belief that every community deserves the dignity of good health.
